2016-2017 Neutral Hourly Mid Century Circles

It’s finally here. I was literally on the last page in my previous planner and I NEEDED my new one to arrive. Simply put, I LOVE IT!

This will be my 4th year using an Erin Condren planner. I have been a vertical girl up till now, but the structure of the hourly really spoke to me, so I’m excited to be in an hourly this  year.

I love the signature design this time and couldn’t resist the color and cheerfulness of the mid century circles. But I went with the neutral on the inside, so the contrast of the black tabs with the party of color on the cover is a little mesmerizing to me.

I fell in love with the neutral when I was able to see the new designs at Geaux Wild in New Orleans last May. I loved the idea of having absolute contol of what colors I would use each week and the neutral offered this complete freedom.

My message this year to myself and others is “Do Hard Things”.

I was the speaker at an 8th grade graduation this year and this was the title of my message and my challenge to the students.

It will serve as a constant reminder to myself to keep dreaming and better than that, to do things that will bring me closer to those dreams even if they are scary or hard!

July is off to a busy start and my monthly view will be an overview for bills (those are not on there yet), extended activities, and a quick glance for business related items.

My weekly will probably be a lot simpler this year because I’ll have a full time job teaching and I won’t have time for elaborate decorating.

I had to return to #teamblack because black just looks better in the neutral!  My pen of choice is the Pilot G2 0.7. I’ve become a pen snob and don’t want to use any other kind!

I’ve tried using multiple planners, one for personal, one for finances, and one for business, and it’s just too many things to keep up with. This year, I’m keeping ALL of the information in one place, which means it will always be at the tip of my fingers!

To do this, I’m utilizing the inspirational quote pages and repurposing them as a space for contacts. I am writing the quote on the large flag on the opposite page so I can still be inspired by the words!

I also adore the tiny page markers and have them in several key places in my planner this year.

I am definitely a lover of the zipper pouch and I’ve placed mine right before the pocket page. I have important stickers, stamps, and address labels as staple items, and other misc things find their way there as well.

At the back of my planner are the new sticky notes.

Erin Condren knocked it out of the ball park with these designs. I bought 3 of them because I know I’m going to use them so much!

Have you seen them up close?  Feast your eyes on the cutest sticky notes on the planet!

Choosing neutral this year was not about needing less color. In fact, when I saw the month at a glance pages I was initially disappointed that they had NO color at all.

But then I found “The Classy Planner” on Etsy and her monthly overview stickers were perfection!

Adding this pop of color on these pages makes my heart sing!

This year I don’t want to “plan ahead” with stickers and color choices. I’m looking forward to having a clean slate each week, and while I know my time will be limited, planning is a therapeutic and relaxing activity for me, and it has become one of my all time favorite hobbies!

HIP – How I Plan March 28-April 3

Sunday is one of my favorite days because it’s the day I get to plan the upcoming week in my Erin Condren vertical life planner!!

Usually my week has a few things already on the pages.

The first thing I do is remove my weekly sticky note from the right side of this layout and take a good look at everything coming up for the week. My large sticky note allows me to scribble everything down as I learn about it and because all of the information is on one sheet, with a strong removable adhesive,  I’m never worried that a small page flag will be lost or misplaced.

Once the week is just ahead of me, I can evaluate my plans and cull out anything that is not a priority.

Now comes the fun part!

I’m participating in KAD week this week, so I’ve got both of my KAD binders ready to go! (Join the group Krissyanne Designs Stickers on FB for more information)

I’ve recently moved my planning supplies to my bedroom, so all the magic is now sprawled all over my bed!

Choosing stickers for appointments, bringing undone tasks from last week to this week, and planning out my schedule is something I find to be very relaxing and therapeutic.
This week I’m color coding with my KAD stickers. With five people in the family, this usually produces a fairly colorful week!

The final layout includes everything from my weekly sticky note that I decided was a priority.

As the week unfolds, more things will be added!  I’ll post a photo of my final spread next Sunday on Instagram!

Happy Easter!

One of my favorite things to do in this blog is to share the unique and creative things people post in all of the My Erin Condren groups that I have on FB!

Look at what this creative hubby did for Heidi in the MyEC Simple group!

Wait for it………

OMGoodness!!!  How cute is this?

Take a closer look!  The cuteness factor is out of the ballpark!!

This post knocked me over the edge and now I have this cover heading my way on a new dot grid perforated notebook!

I’ve been told this cover is even more brilliant in person and I can’t wait to get it in my hands. I plan to use my notebook for all the poetry I’ve written through the years!

Hope everyone (that celebrates)  is having a blessed Easter holiday.

Happy Sunday to all!

Creative, Pretty, and Functional

I always love when someone in the My Erin Condren groups shares a gem of an idea!  This one popped up in my feed last night and I think it’s brilliant and wanted to share with all of you!

It was a huge hit in the group with almost 200 people liking this idea!

From what I can tell, looking at my own planners, this 2 page layout is found in the horizontal version of the Erin Condren Life Planner.

This is so easy to implement and requires nothing special, just a pen, and a list of all the things you love!

Are you going to do this? If you do, please send me an email with a photo of your page and I’ll include it in this blog post!

Covering The Words Above The Lines

Aren’t we glad we no longer have to do this?  This was an old post in draft mode, but I decided to post it now anyway, even though it’s obsolete. I DO still use the whiteout tape as it covers a multitude of mistakes very well, and I love how easy it is to use!

These words used to drive me nuts!

I had to cover them, but I didn’t want to lose the space to Washi tape.

So I used whiteout tape!

I did the entire planner!

You could barely even see it!

I’ve heard some talking about the new Hourly layout and not liking the printed times.

Grab some whiteout tape and go to work!

It’s quick!

It’s easy!

And it gets the job done!

Plan With Me: December 21-27, 2015

One of these days I’ll upgrade my phone and get the Periscope App, and share planner stuff in style, but for now, I’ll do my first “Plan With Me” right here on my blog!

It wasn’t long ago when I learned about using a weekly large sticky note to jot down upcoming events, appointments, and ideas. I had been using sticky note flags and I always had this worry that one might fall out and I’d forget or lose one of my notes. I don’t worry any more because I’ve attached a large sticky note to each of my weeks in the planner.

This does not add a lot of extra bulk and I have done this for 3 weeks now, and I’ll never go back to the tiny notes. I call this my “scribble sheet”, and it allows me to scribble things down quickly with any old pen, and I can add “maybe” events as well as “for sure” events without worrying about plans changing. Everything can land on the scribble sheet without much thought, allowing me to see and contemplate what the final schedule will be.

By having a sheet on every weekly layout, I can do significant future planning, just jotting everything down, without needing to cull my activities until closer to the actual date things are happening. This provides so much freedom for my brain because I can wait to make final decisions until closer to the event, allowing for schedule changes or accommodating things that may come up, like sick kids, or needed family time instead of another event.

On Sundays, I pull my scribble sheet off my weekly layout and I begin to add my activities and appointments.

This is my sheet for Dec 21-27, 2015. With it being Christmas vacation and Christmas week, there wasn’t actually very much to add.

This is my planner BEFORE adding anything.

There are some things that get added along the way, so my week is never really a blank slate when I add my scribble sheet. For any events or activities or to do’s that I know are already set in stone, I usually just add those randomly as they happen, and don’t wait till Sunday to put them in.

In the above photo, the very first thing I did when I got my planner was add all my rainbow weekend stickers, so those were already there. The day after Thanksgiving, I added my Krissyanne Designs (www.krissyanne.com) Christmas countdown stickers, so those were already there as well.  I also added along the way, a few Christmas decor stickers just because, so those were also already in place.

Last Friday, I had a few puppies that were going to need medication all week, so I took the time to add all that information because I knew it HAD to be done, so it needed a prominent placement in my days and week.

Having a planner is all about managing your time and being more productive, so getting the most important things into your schedule first, allow you to prioritize and accomplish those things that are most important in your life.

Now, with the space still available, I began to add the things off my scribble list.

I get a little worried when the week is so full even before the week begins. Plans tend to shift and change, and that is much harder to do when the schedule is already packed.

The movie stickers are from “The Pretty Planner” on Etsy. We are in the midst of a Star Wars marathon so we can have the story fresh in our minds before seeing the new one in the theatre!

This is what it looked like after I added everything from my scribble sheet!

1st half of the week

2nd half of the week.

Next year I’m going to try and make Christmas week a little more festive with a LOT more green and red!

This is the final layout. We didn’t get all of the persimmons delivered and we watched “Terminator” on Sunday (which I did not enjoy at all).  And the week was basically overrun with dog chores, but it was the best Christmas day we’ve had in a while, and I was thankful for my family and our friends that spent the day with us.

Merry Christmas! 🌲❄️⛄️
